How much worse can it get for Liverpool?

Defeat against Manchester United will be their 5th straight loss, their worst run of form since 1987. It would be their 5th defeat of the season. They would have lost 50% of their games so far.  No team has ever won the league after 6 defeats. And it’s not even Christmas yet.

Benitez tries too hard to reverse the dreadful form. He starts both Gerrard and Torres, only for both to further aggravate their injuries.

At the other camp, a former Anfield favorite embraces the hostile reception with the perfect response. Making his mark with a clinical finish so familiar and missed these days. Everyone is reminded of the baffling mistake for not signing Michael Owen, who was available for FREE. “Oh Owen is too injury prone” they claimed. The camera then zooms in on Alberto Aquilani and Sotiris Kyriakos, injured players that Benitez signed for a combined 20 MILLION pounds.

Lucas Leiva, in the absence of the club’s skipper continues to chase shadows in midfield. Andriv Voronin, able replacement for Torres (according to Benitez) continues to terrorize the United defense with his ponytail.

The home fans grow increasingly frustrated. Red devil voices slowly but surely mask the YNWA anthem. Anfield is disillusioned. Then, the devils reveal the ultimate taunt, not the red apple, but the beach ball. Anfield goes ballistic.

Down at halftime, Benitez attempts a reenactment of 15 minutes that shook the world in Istanbul. He even tries kicking a boot in the dressing room. Of course, just like his strikers, the boot ends no where near its intended placement.

Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney take the pitch. No one hates Liverpool as much as these two. They combine to seal the nail in the coffin. Red devils celebrate a somewhat expected victory. Liverpool players exit, faces drooped down in shame.

Benitez will talk about turning that umpteen corner and focusing about the next match during the post match conference.

And there you have it. If you’re a Reds fan like I am, having read this, surely it cannot get any worse out there tonight.
